Hi Folks,
The third edition of Chathurya has been brought through
online this time. Because to save trees by not using papers by printing Hard
Copy. The second reason behind publishing through online is – we the current generation
people are not much used to read books, that doesn’t mean that we have a
smaller number of users, if we are publishing through Web, we could reach large
number of users, because 75% of Indian population uses Smart Phones.
Even we are trying to bring a Smart Application in Mobile phone

the good news is most of the Bangalore resident have used Parisara Ganapathi

Building
a sense of environmental awareness and ownership. – Parisara Ganapathi
We have
to inculcate the perspective of patriotism, spirituality and environment
protection in our everyday life and practice it.
Sri
Krishna sent this message of environment protection through his various deeds.
Such messages are a very essential part of all Sanatana Dharma practices.
Festivals
must be celebrated with great energy and gaiety, but also with the concern for
the environment and for the cultural and spiritual sensibilities.
Any
practices, events that violate the spirit of societal and and environment
welfare must be avoided.
Use of
big statues made with non-clay materials must be avoided. The statues used must
be prepared only from clay. Only natural dyes must be used to color the
idols to prevent any environmental damage.
A big
movement to ensure a ecologically friendly , spiritually rich Ganapati festival
must be taken up.
Ganapati is
the God of Agriculture
When we
worship Ganapati we are worshipping Mother Earth and its creations. It is a
process of revisiting the creation and realizing the process of
creation, sustenance and destruction.
Ganapati is
the God of Agriculture. We need two shovels and one plough, the shovels are
represented by the large ears , the lone tusk represents the plough , the trunk
indicates the source of irrigation .
The idols
of Ganapati must be made out of clay, it is better if it made with your hands,
whatever the shape you are able to give it , ugly or crude it does not matter.
According
to the Agamas, the size of the idols should not be big. The amount of
Naivedya offered to the deity twice a day and served as prasadam must be 10
times the size of the idol! If this idol is just the size of a fist, at least 1
kg of rice must be offered for naivedyam.. If not done in the right
proportions, the pooja does not yield any fruit.
The current
practices with focus on pomp, splendor, lavishness has to be replaced with the
original spirit of true devotion and submission and
eco-friendly traditions

Health Tips - By Dr. Lavanya G
VITAMIN
(L-ascorbic acid)
Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that is
naturally present in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary
supplement.
USES:
1. a vital role in wound healing.
2. involved in protein metabolism
3. regenerate other antioxidants within the body
4. vitamin C plays an important role in immune
function
Approximately 70%–90% of vitamin C is
absorbed at moderate intakes of 30–180 mg/day. Acute vitamin C deficiency leads
to Scurvy.
The MMR vaccine
The MMR vaccine is administered by
a subcutaneous injection.The
second dose may be given as early as one month after the first dose. The
second dose is a dose to produce immunity in the small number of persons (2–5%)
who fail to develop measles immunity after the first dose. In the U.S. it is
done before entry to kindergarten because
that is a convenient time.
The MMRV vaccine, a combined measles, mumps, rubella
and varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, has been
proposed as a replacement for the MMR vaccine to simplify administration of the
vaccines. Preliminary data indicate a rate of Febrile seizures of 9 per 10,000
vaccinations with MMRV, as opposed to 4 per 10,000 for separate MMR and
varicella shots; U.S. health officials therefore do not express a preference
for use of MMRV vaccine over separate injections.

Politics losses its Poetry – Atal
Bihari Vajpayee: Philosopher and Politician – Swetha Narayan | Columnist.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born into a
middle-class family in Gwalior. His father was Krishna Bihari Vajpayee, a
school teacher and poet, and his mother was Krishna Devi. He attended the
Saraswathi Shishu Mandir and later went to Victoria College from where he
graduated with distinction in Hindi, English and Sanskrit. He enrolled at DAV
College, Kanpur to complete his post-graduation and earned his M.A. in
Political science. He was a patriot at heart and participated in India’s
struggle for freedom even as a student and edited several nationalist Hindi
newspapers.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a highly
respected veteran politician who had served as the Prime Minister of India in
three non-consecutive terms. He was a member of the Indian Parliament for
almost five decades; in fact, he was the only parliamentarian who had been
elected from four different states at different times, namely, Uttar Pradesh,
Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Delhi. He made his foray into politics during the
pre-independence era when he took part in the Quit India Movement which led to
his arrest and imprisonment. A true patriot, he was one of the founding members
of the erstwhile Bharatiya Jana Sangh, an Indian nationalist party.
A multi-faceted personality, he was a
very skilled poet with several published poems. Also well-known is his love for
his native language Hindi—he was the first person to deliver a speech in Hindi
at the U.N. General assembly. He was very famous for his oratory skills and
held several prestigious positions in Indian politics before being elected the
Prime minister. His first stint as the Prime Minister of India lasted for just
13 days. He was again sworn in for the second time after a couple of years.
This time too, his government lasted for just over a year. His third stint as
the Prime Minister was his most successful one and he served a full term of five
years in this position.
Atal ji was suffering from urinary
tract infection and chest congestion and he died on 16 August 2018.

How can we rebuild the Kerla and Kodagu?
As Kodagu and Kerala are reeling
under nature’s fury, Bengalureans are mobilising money and material to help the
victims of the floods and everyone is contributing with an open heart.
While several organisations,
individuals, political parties and government agencies already made visits to
the flood-ravaged areas over the weekend offering help, many others have
chalked out plans to transport material to the needy in the next few days.
Members of community organisations such as Kerala Samajam and Mallyalli
Association have been gathering Aid Material across the city to be sent to
their home state.
Kerala’s worst floods in a century
have discouraged some from celebrating Onam and instead use the amount for the
cause of flood relief. First
we need to stop cutting the trees and stop entering the forest areas. More than
thinking in a business mind we are destroying the forest in the name of
Tourism.
We have 291 Villages from
Madkeri – Virajpet and Somwarpet and basic thing we need to do is –
Construction of toilets and shelters. Next it comes to arrange the food, we
main to say that – arrangement for food grains ( like rice , dal, cooking
oil etc ) third option it comes to school – rebuild the government school which
should be an asset for government. Central government has already assured that
roads will be repaired in next few weeks.
Many of them start our day
from coffee which has been grown in the different parts of Kodagu and we need
to stand for their help.

Religion,
Culture & Tradition Vs Superstition; False Propaganda – GNSK
A young boy once asked me , “ Is our religion correct ? The fundamentals
of our religion, Vedas, suggest animal sacrifice, untouchability etc.. There
are many superstitions in our religion, unbelievable things like, the lightning
is caused by Indra striking with his weapon and so on. Is this, what our
religion offers ? ”
Now, that set me thinking. We proudly call our religion ‘ Sanathana
Dharma ‘ and have been practicing it from time immemorial. Had the above said
and many more silly things been a part of our Religion, will it have survived
for thousands of years ? We claim our knowledge as scientific and
practical, will it contain these baseless issues ? No, definitely NOT.
The Knowledge, Wisdom, Values and Philosophy propounded by our ‘
Sanathana Dharma ‘ are definitely Scientific, True, Believable and Practical
too. The Knowledge and Advancement Bharatha had in the field of Medicine,
Astronomy, Mathematics, Art and Architecture, Engineering, Aero Science, Laws
of Physics, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Construction, Economics, Trade &
Commerce, Warfare, Weather Forecast, ( you name it), was far more ahead of all
countries put together.
Where did all these things go ? What happened to our Religion and
Country ? Starting from the Invasions our country faced, Followed by 800 odd
years of foreign rule and the continued lineage post- independence have
contributed in a big way for this poor state of affairs. Their Vested interest,
Manipulative Ideas and Cunning Logic have not only Changed our Education
System, Thought Process but also introduced many false views into our Religion
too. They equated superstition to our religion, Introduced Myths,
Misinterpreted Vedas and to an extent made us feel Ashamed of our Glorious
Past.
Let me go back to the boy’s question and understand in a proper way –
Our Puranas tell us that the speed and power at which Indra’s weapon Vajra
strikes, is similar to that of the lightning and not as wrongly understood.
Vedas suggest us to make an image or idol of an animal with flour and perform
sacrifice with this image. Superstitions and Untouchability find no mention in
any of our religious texts. So, all the false propaganda and misinterpretations
have led to this defaming of our religion. The prevailing misconception about
our religion, thus, is all, False.
So what do we do now ?
1)
As youngsters, first we have to realise the Richness of our Religion, Culture
and Country.
2)
We should put an end to the False propaganda on our Religion by simply not
accepting everything thrown against it.
3)
We need not feel Ashamed of our Religion, Religious Marks which we adorn or our
Traditional Dress.
4)
We should unearth all the True meanings and Worthiness of our Lost Treasure – ‘
Sanathana Dharma ‘
5)
Whenever you are faced with Deliberate or Improper questions, you can always
counter it yourself or the person who questions, by asking -
(i) Which part of the Veda or Purana this doubt / question is mentioned or related
to?
(ii) Have you personally seen or read it
(iii) Is the question based on the Original Text or any of the Distorted
Versions
(iv) Is the question just a loose talk spread in thin air by manipulative
people.
So, My Dear Friends, If you think clearly, you can understand whether
the questions posed are just to Malign and Ridicule our Religion. Your
Intellect and Intelligence will make you understand the ‘ Truth ’, if you
Question and Approach in a right manner. As Swamy Vivekananda quoted from
Upanishads, “ Arise, Awake and Stop not till the Goal is Achieved “.

Independence Day – August 15 2018
The year 1857 is a benchmark
in the history of Indian independence. On 29th march 1875, a brave Indian
soldier first ever raised his voice against the British Empire and later it
resulted to Sepoy Mutiny.
The name of the Indian
soldier was Mangal Pandey, and the reason behind his revolt was, low wages of
Indian workers than other British soldiers, racial discrimination and cultural
misunderstandings. And another strong reason was the packing of the cartridges
which was believed to be greased with cow and pig fat and soldiers had to tear
the packing with their teeth in order to use it. And that was something which
considered being very unholy for the hindu soldiers. Combination of all these
issues led to the violent uprising of Barrakpore Sepoy mutiny. Mangal Pandey,
the Hindu soldier of the 34th Native infantry was hanged as because he had shot
his sergeant major on the parade ground. This incident fanned the fire of the
revolution. On 10th may of the same year the enraged Indian soldiers and
the common civilians of Meerut joined their hands to protest against the
ill-treatment of the British on some native soldiers. Later this revolt took a
big form but it was eventually put down by the effective British military.
At last the day came,
in the year 1947, June 3rd Viscount Louis Mountbatten, the last British
Governor-General of India, declared that the British will leave the Indian
subcontinent. But before leaving India they had decided to split up their
Indian British Empire into secular India and Muslim Pakistan. This was done
because the Muslims in India felt that their demands were not thoroughly
represented by the Congress. And after the desired freedom they would not have
equal opportunities as the Congress. They thought that after independence the
Congress would give preference to the Hindus and therefore this thought lead to
the demand for a separate nation. Pakistan was officially announced as an
independent nation on 14th August 1947. And at midnight, on 15th August 1947,
India was declared to be an independent nation by her first Prime Minister
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Sringeri – Prasanna Karthik S
Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada established the first of the
four Amnaya Peethams 1 at Sringeri more than twelve centuries ago to foster the
sacred tradition of Sanatana Dharma. Hallowed for all times by Sage Rishyashringa
who stayed and performed Tapas here, Sringeri attracted the great Acharya with
a remarkable sight.
Sringeri, a holy, scenic, hilly
place in Karnataka is where peace is palpable, tangible. Enchanted by the
sacred spot, of matchless serenity, Sri Adi Shankaracharya founded here the
first and foremost of his mathas, the Sringeri Math, also known as the Sringeri
Sharada Peetham. Sringeri is where time has stood still; the Sringery of
legend, the Sringery of mythology, the Sringeri of history, ancient and modern,
the Sringeri where the successive Shankaracharyas have performed penance and
attained samadhi, the Sringeri where there has always been a living Acharya, in
the authentic tradition of Adi Shankara to bless and guide mankind.
Nestled in a picturesque spot in
the plateau of the Western Ghats, surrounded by charming hills rising on all
sides like galleries of a huge amphitheatre, and reflected in the crystal water
of Tunga river washing its steps, is the Math of Sringeri associated with the
great Shankaracharya. The surrounding mountain ranges are known as the
Rishyasringa Parvata. The appellation is derived from the celebrated
saint mentioned in the Ramayana. A more charming spot can hardly be found
in the whole of Mysore Plateau which abounds with natural scenes.
Nature is bounteous in
Sringeri. Its river Tunga is sacred and perennial. The air is rich
with the aroma of medicinal herbs. The climate is salubrious even
in the peak of summer. This is much for physical vigour. The
stream Tunga issuing from a hill, winds her tortuous course somewhat north-east
and speeds to meet her sister, Bhadra, coming from a different direction.
The two streams join about 16 kms. of Bhadravati and form the sacred river
Tunga Bhadra.
In Sringeri the sacred vibrations of the place will awaken your dormant
spiritual nature. The high peaks of the Western Ghats silhouetting against the
sky, the dense forest full of tropical vegetation, the warbling birds and the
solitudes of sun-rise and sun-set conjure up an irrestible vision of a
hermitage of ancient rishis.
